We haven't forgotten how to use FMP 6

We have had several ProofSupport inquiries recently that have begun with, "I'm not sure if you can help us. We're still using FileMaker Pro 6, and we are having trouble with..." Now, there is no question that we spend most of our time with FMP 9, but we are still very comfortable with FMP 6.

We've even heard from a couple of people that they are being told that their FMP 6 solutions will soon no longer be supported. It is true that if you must use Windows Vista you are out of luck with FMP 6, but otherwise, we see no reason that you should have to move to a new version of FileMaker, or worse, move away from FileMaker (!) just because your current solutions are in an older version of the software.

There are many advantages that make moving to FileMaker 9 compelling (and I don't mean Vista compatibility). We certainly would not recommend investing in too many modifications or enhancements to a solution in FMP 6, because development money is probably better invested in moving to FMP 9. But until you are ready to make the switch, FileMaker Pro 6 is still an option for your solutions as long as you are getting the functionality you need out of them. So, if you are still using your FMP 6 based solutions and you need some help, don't hesitate to get in touch, we'd be happy to help you.
